Rainy Race at the Nürburgring

There were no signs of drama at the 10th round of the Superbike, which was held at the Nurburgring World Cup. After the morning qualifying where Checa set the fastest time, setting a new track record, denoting its claim of victory. But the weather brought about changes and the picture of the race changed dramatically.
The race was held in rainy conditions and a special struggle between the pilots did not work, as often happens in such conditions, the distance between the riders did not imply the possibility of attack. All of a sudden pileton headed Nurioki Haga, who shortly before the finish came down the track, thus giving the victory to Tom Sykes. Guentoli finished second Smerzh took the third step of the podium. Championship leader Carlos Checa, after a failed launch fell back to fourteenth position, but after a series of flights; Touzlend, Echinsona, Camier and Haga, Checa climbed to eighth position. Max Biaggi who was injured in qualifying could not participate in the race.
After ten steps Checa continues to lead ahead of his nearest rival Marco Melandri by 72 points, Max Biaggi in third place.
